It is worthy to know that this article is not only going to proffer solutions as regards the primary education level, it will also proffer solutions for the secondary education level too. So, if you are a teacher, a class monitor/rep. or a prefect, and you wish to know the tentative ways to stop noise making in the classroom, then you have no problem reading this.

Ways To Stop Noise Making In The Classroom

The following are ways through which noise making can be stopped in any classroom.

 1.  Imposition of punishment/fines

One of the cogent ways, that have been recorded by many research work for stopping the making of noises in the classroom, is the imposition of punishments or fines. This is because, many students are often scared of being punished by their teachers and sometimes, by their seniors. Thus, they do everything possible to sidestep the imposition of punishment and fines on them.

Though, this method seems to be very much effective when devised, it still has it pitfalls. For instance, when a student makes a noise in the classroom, and he/she is dully published for the conduct. It is likely that that student will hate the teacher, with the assumption that the teacher is wicked, even when the teacher may not have intended be so.

 2.  Treat noise makers scornfully

Another way through which noise making in the classroom can be drastically reduced, is treating students who make a noise scornfully. Students often find it very difficult to face the public, especially when they are being treated with shame and scorn. Thus, using this as a deterrent will go a long way in curbing the problem of noise making in the classroom.

Note that while treating any student scornfully, it is not good that you do it overzealously, as that can be an abuse. Scornful in this sense is treating a student with little contempt in the presence of the whole class, letting them know that you are doing so because of the noise he/she has been making.
 3.  Scare the students

Another practicable way to reduce noise making in the classroom is by instigating fear and tension on the student when they make noise. This also an efficacious way to reduce noise making in the classroom.

When I was still a baby, my greatest fear at that time, was the police. This was to the extent that, i always run away when any tells me that the police is coming to my house. Unfortunately, my teacher got to know about it, and that marked the end of my making a lot of noise in the class. In fact, I started advising my friends not make a noise, because that can also make my teacher call the police.

In secondary schools where there are more mature students, you can still scare them but this time not by calling the police or other less scary things. You can threaten to reduce marks from their exams if they do. And definitely, noise making will be stopped. So you see, scaring students up can also be a good way to get them quiet, as they will do any thing possible to circumvent their fears.

4. Be persuasive

Another incredible way through which noise making can be reduced in the classroom, is persuasion. Students of now a days, can seldom be controlled by being coercive or aggressive. They love being persuaded before doing anything. Thus, this can also be a good way to regulate or stop noise making in the classroom.

For instance, instead of kneeling a student for noise making, you can simply persuade him/her by flattering, and giving reasons why you think it is not good that they make a noise. In some cases, you can just fabricate some disadvantage associated to making of noises in the classroom. This will go a long way in curbing noise making in the classroom.

Final words

Reducing noise making in the classroom is one of the most prevalent problem in schools. Sometimes teachers get traumatised as their effort to stop noise making; is often rendered futile. However, with the above points, i am sure noise making in class rooms can to drastically reduced, is not totally stopped. All you need to do is to try other ways  mentioned above if one fails. And for sure, you will get to the one that works best for your classroom.
